HELMETS AND FACE SHIELDS

Protests which began Friday, May 29, 2020 throughout downtown Houston, after several hours of otherwise peaceful protests, the mood of protesters changed.

As night came police officers were subject to profane taunting and pelted with bricks, and bottles. Several patrol cars were damaged. Many of our officers were not equipped with helmets and face shields and several suffered injuries.

HPD was in critical need of securing 2,500 Helmets and Face Shields. This equipment is valuable particularly in crowd and riot control efforts. With the generous support of our community, we were able to purchase and provide these helmets to our Houston Police Officers.
